Pastoral Visiting Team

Pastoral Visiting Team

Hello, my name is Audrey Griffiths and I am the pastoral worker for the Benefice of Norley, Crowton and Kingsley.  I work within Ministry Team which comprises clergy and lay people and is led by Rev'd Pete Rugen.

We have pastoral visiting teams in each parish.  Each team works in a way that suits the unique needs of that parish.  These teams are not intended to replace the visiting that takes place in a private and giving way which is very valuable, rather they augment what already goes on.  Nor do they replace the visits made by the clergy rather they support and assist the clergy in the care of the parishioners.

We are fortunate to have links with the hospital chaplaincies in the vicinity and if we are aware of anyone being admitted to a hospital we do contact the chaplaincy team.

We visit the local residential homes and assist the clergy in bringing the church to the residents. We visit Newton Hall on the first Wednesday of each month and we alternate our visits to Mount Pleasant on a monthly basis with our Methodist friends. We also take home communion to those who are housebound.

In addition we have an outreach to prison through the Mothers’ Union crèche at the Thorn Cross, Appleton Thorn and also links with the Prison Fellowship we facilitate restorative justice through the Sycamore Tree Course

We have ad hoc outreach events throughout the year for older people and so far they have been reasonably well attended but we can accommodate more, they are free of charge and transport can be arranged so please look out for these events. There is more detail about these events on the ‘community’ tab.

I am a qualified listener and offer a listening ear to anyone who is worried, lonely or just needs to talk.

Please contact Vicar Pete or me if you would like to help or if we can help you or you know of anyone who you think would like to be visited.

Jesus says, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives;  he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened…..So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law of the Prophets. (Matt. 7:7,8,12)
